CONCRETE PRODUCTS & CAST STONEwww.cpi-worldwide.com CPI %u2013 Concrete Plant International %u2013 4 | 2025 85Coatings for digitally printed concrete productsTo protect concrete products with digitally printed surfaces from environmental influences, applying a protective coating is essential. During the development of the technology, two coating systems have proven to be particularly suitable:Water-dilutable, thermally cured acrylate coatingsThese coatings are based on high-quality pure acrylates and can be applied using spray or roller techniques. They are dried using infrared (IR) radiation.UV coatingsThese coatings are based on high-quality, water- and solvent-free binders that cure under UV light. Compared to water-dilutable coatings, they offer significantly longer durability, greater resistance, and improved cleanability. The 100% UV coatings are applied in two or three layers using a roller application process. The Lithotop UV Primer is characterized by excellent penetration properties and ensures strong adhesion on sandblasted facing concrete. The Lithotop UV TopCoat can be customized for slip and abrasion resistance by selecting specific filler combinations and particle sizes, depending on customer requirements or application needs. Slip resistance classes above R11 or SRT (slip resistance) values over 35 can be achieved. In combination with specially formulated facing concrete mixes and suitable surface treatments, SRT values greater than 45 can also be realized, meeting the requirements for public areas.SummaryThe field of digital printing has expanded from the graphic arts industry to tile production and now to concrete processing. With the use of inorganic digital printing inks, it is now possible to apply long-lasting, UV-resistant surface designs to concrete products. Companies such as Zschimmer & Schwarz and Rhein-Chemotechnik have developed innovative solutions in ink and coating technology. As a result, digital printing opens up entirely new design possibilities for concrete products, ranging from custom graphics to surfaces that closely resemble natural stone. nFURTHER INFORMATIONRhein-Chemotechnik GmbHGewerbepark Siebenmorgen 853547 Breitscheid, GermanyT +49 2638 93170info@rhein-chemotechnik.comwww.rhein-chemotechnik.comZschimmer & Schwarz GmbH & Co KG Chemische FabrikenMax-Schwarz-Stra%u00dfe 3%u2013556112 Lahnstein, GermanyT +49 2621120 info@zschimmer-schwarz.comwww.zschimmer-schwarz.comAbout Rhein-ChemotechnikRhein-Chemotechnik GmbH is one of the leading companies in the field of high-quality surface protection solutions and concrete admixtures for the concrete industry.
