The vision was to develop structural elements for double walls that are not only stable, but also easy to handle and lightweight. It was also important that they were suitable for insulated double walls. This led to the development of the patented KAP-ISO-Wave made of glass fibre, which has won numerous awards.Building on this success, the company transferred the principle to steel. In the KAP-Steel-Wave, the rod is made of stainless steel grade 1.4003 and the wave is made of DC01 sheet steel.Thanks to its high surface quality, speed of construction, modern manufacturing and precise workmanship, the double wall quickly established itself throughout Europe. Its ease of handling is particularly appreciated: Wall thicknesses from 180 to 600 mm can be achieved with millimetre precision.Up to 2,250 waves can be accommodated on a standard pallet thanks to space-saving storage, corresponding to approximately 1,000 m%u00b2 of double walls. KAP-Steel-Waves can be a genuine alternative to conventional lattice girders, as they combine flexibility and practical applicability. Increased corrosion protection requirements can also be met by adapting the choice of stainless steel to the respective application.The main differenceIn conventional double-wall systems, the lattice girder lies on the reinforcement layer and must have at least the necessary concrete cover. This explains why it is necessary to have different types of lattice girders with different heights for different concrete coverings. The KAP-Steel-Wave can be used independently of the concrete cover, as it is not dependent on the position of the reinforcement. In order to absorb the necessary forces when concreting the wall, only a concrete cover of at least 17 mm on the inside is required. However, as the stainless steel form sticks of the KAP-Steel-Wave are integrated throughout the entire shell thickness, a shell thickness of only 5.5 cm is required, regardless of the concrete cover, with the advantage of being able to absorb higher forces when concreting the wall.
