PRECAST CONCRETE ELEMENTSwww.cpi-worldwide.com CPI %u2013 Concrete Plant International %u2013 5 | 2025Unlike this configuration, sliding-type restraints are designed to decouple the dynamic behaviour of the panels from that of the main frame as much as possible. By employing this solution, the panels are free to move relative to the frame%u2014allowing each to oscillate independently and, in many cases, attenuating the forces transmitted to the structural system during a seismic event. In this arrangement, the connection nodes between panels and structure transmit horizontal forces of very low magnitude-practically negligible and are, above all, not directly affected by the peak ground acceleration intensity. This mechanism significantly limits the panels%u2019 contribution to the overall response of the building, although under very strong shaking the panels%u2019 total mass may still play a marginal role in defining the vibration modes, with its influence confined almost exclusively to the risk of overturning or mass deformations. In conclusion, the choice between rigid restraints and sliding restraints is not simply a matter of design preference but is intrinsically linked to the desired seismic response as well as the type of building and panels in use. Accurate modelling and analysis of these connection types is crucial for optimal seismic design, since they directly influence vibration patterns, internal stresses, and the distribution of forces transferred between the cladding elements and the primary structural core. For this type of restraint, Edilmatic offers a comprehensive range of solutions, consisting of metallic inserts to be cast into the load-bearing layer of the precast panel and recessed profiles to be embedded within the supporting concrete element. In particular, the inserts designated Scatola QT and Scatola ST are employed. These products are the culmination of intensive design work carried out in close synergy with the experience and expertise of our entire technical staff and corporate management. Their configuration creates a dedicated housing which, when used in combination with the Recessed Profile embedded in the column, allows the component to be secured immediately upon placement (for example, by crane during erection) using special bolts, in full accordance with the prescribed assembly sequence. It is important to emphasize that this solution retains a wide range of adjustability in all directions, ensuring ease of alignment and precision during installation. The inserts are available in various dimensional variants, engineered to suit specific panel types and the adjustment requirements of each project. All models are supplied complete with a pre-installed polyurethane pad%u2014an essential element for forming the anchorage recess.
