Wiggert USA recently upgraded the batching control system at Capital Precast, a U.S.-based precast concrete producer, to WCS V11 (Wiggert Control System Version 11) %u2014 a major step toward improving plantwide efficiency, reliability and usability.Capital Precast operates multiple batch plants, some of which were equipped with older-generation control systems that had become increasingly difficult to maintain. Some others used third-party control systems.The biggest problems arose from the limited availability of spare parts, the varying levels of experience among operators at the different plants, outdated moisture probes and associated software and manual workarounds that slowed down production.The WCS V11 platform offered a seamless, customisable upgrade of the batching control system. WCS V11 was developed internally by Wiggert in Germany, where it continues to be developed.
