Prof. Dr.-Ing. Viktor Mechtcherine demonstrated how optimized mix designs, adapted production technologies, and the targeted use of modern admixtures can improve both the performance and durability of concrete products. It became clear that crushed aggregates can offer technical advantages in many applications. At the same time, their use requires precise adjustment of mix parameters and consistent quality control throughout the entire production process.Precast concrete construction at the heart of ICCX AcademyAnother major focus of the ICCX Academy targeted industrial construction methods using precast concrete elements, as well as the use of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). Several industry presentations showcased current industry developments and highlighted the economic and technical advantages of these construction methods.Precast concrete construction offers significant potential for reducing construction time, ensuring quality, and improving resource efficiency, particularly in large-scale infrastructure and residential projects. At the same time, industrial prefabrication enables precise planning and consistently high product quality. The speakers emphasized that modern precast concepts could play a key role in the implementation of complex construction projects.Panel discussion highlights the future of precast concrete construction in AzerbaijanA special highlight of the event was the panel discussion, in which industry experts analysed the future development of precast concrete construction in Azerbaijan. Topics included industry challenges, the need for investment in production capacities, and the importance of international cooperation. The discussion showed that the transition to more industrialised construction methods offers considerable potential for long-term efficiency. It was further emphasized that, in addition to technological innovations, appropriate framework conditions and qualified skilled professionals are essential components for such a transition. The participants agreed that precast concrete construction methods will play a central role in the modernisation of the country%u2019s construction industry in the years to come.Sustainability and CO2 reduction as key industry topicsIn addition to technological innovations, a central place in the conference programme was dedicated to aspects related to sustainable construction. The closing presentation by Dr. Inna Khripacheva focused on strategies for reducing CO2 emissions in concrete production and on the use of recycled aggregates, demonstrating that significant emission reductions can be achieved through the increased use of alternative constituent materials and optimized production processes. At the same time, it became clear that sustainable construction methods are gaining growing economic importance. Particularly in the context of international climate targets and increasing regulatory requirements, low-CO2 building material solutions are becoming a decisive factor for competitiveness. International trade exhibition complements conference programmeAlongside the technical conference, numerous international companies presented their products and services at an accompanying trade exhibition. Suppliers from the fields of production equipment, plant technology, admixtures, software solutions, and raw material technologies used the event to showcase their innovations.Henning Sasse, CEO Norm Cement, presented the opening speech of the event. During the panel discussion, industry experts analysed the future development of precast concrete construction in Azerbaijan.
