Samples were heated using a Memmert UN260 forced-air oven (Memmert GmbH + Co. KG, Schwabach, Germany), held at 20%u00b0C and 110%u00b0C for at least 4 hours each, with an average heating/cooling rate of 11%u00b0C/min. Subsequently, the samples underwent unconfined compressive strength testing (following the Standard EN 196-1).Additionally, to investigate whether sulfur binder could adequately protect hematite when fully substituted, the author used 40x40x40 mm%u00b3 cubic sulfur concrete specimens and immersed them in an aggressive solution composed of 20 wt.% sulfuric acid (H2SO4), 10 wt.% hydrochloric acid (HCl), and 3.5 wt.% sodium chloride (NaCl), for 90 days. Each test group consisted of n = 3 specimens. The ratios of these corrosive solutions were derived from the previous study by Vlahovic et al. [19] ResultsFigure 3 shows the state of the silica sand sulfur concrete sample and the hematite sulfur concrete sample after undergoing 14 cycles of 20-110%u00b0C temperature cycling and completing the compressive strength test. It is clearly visible that the silica sand sulfur concrete has disintegrated into scattered particles, completely lacking structural integrity. In fact, no compressive test was required, the sample could be crushed into powder simply by hand.
