CONCRETE PRODUCTS & CAST STONE92 CPI %u2013 Concrete Plant International %u2013 2 | 2026 www.cpi-worldwide.comOne hundred years of company history represent more than a milestone in time. They stand for experience, for refined expertise, and for the ability to continuously adapt to changing market conditions. The history of Rampf Formen GmbH is shaped precisely by this: by an exceptionally early understanding of materials, processes, and industrial production in the concrete products sector - long before formwork and concrete mould manufacturing established itself as an independent discipline.Founded in 1926 as a farrier%u2019s workshop, the company steadily evolved into a specialized partner to the concrete products industry. From an early stage, it anticipated key developments in concrete block mould manufacturing, thoroughly understood the underlying technologies, and transformed them into practical, industry-ready solutions. The company%u2019s history clearly illustrates how Rampf laid the groundwork early on for its current position as an internationally recognized expert in mould engineering. From farrier%u2019s forge to industrial formwork engineering (1926 - 1973)In 1926, Franz Rampf founded a farrier%u2019s forge in Erbach near Ulm, Germany. At a time when traditional blacksmithing, associated repair work, and custom metal fabrication were closely intertwined, the business developed a profound understanding of materials, their behaviour under stress, and precision craftsmanship. After the Second World War, construction methods and building materials underwent fundamental change. Demand for efficiently manufactured concrete products increased sharply, and Rampf quickly recognized that this shift would bring new technical requirements in terms of design, dimensional accuracy, and concrete mould durability.Early entry into concrete mould manufacturingAs early as 1947, Rampf began producing its first steel moulds for concrete masonry units, as well as formwork for precast concrete elements. This step marked the transition from a traditional blacksmith%u2019s workshop to an industrially oriented mould manufacturer - at a time when the concrete products industry was still in its formative stages in many regions. The years that followed were characterized by a systematic expansion of the company%u2019s portfolio:%u2022 1954: Design and construction of the first moulds for block-making machines, an early response to the growing demand for industrially produced paving blocks and slabs. %u2022 1955: Development of moulds for chimney blocks.Through these developments, Rampf positioned itself at a very early stage as a specialist in application-focused mould and formwork solutions for concrete products, long before standardization and mass production became established across the industry..100 years of expertise in formwork and concrete mouldsRampf Formen GmbH, 89604 Allmendingen, Germany n Myriam Klatt, Rampf Formen GmbH, GermanyThe main site in Allmendingen has been expanded and modernized several times.
