                                    PRECAST CONCRETE ELEMENTSwww.cpi-worldwide.com CPI %u2013 Concrete Plant International %u2013 1 | 2026Semi-precast double wall as an ideal application for carbon reinforcementThe semi-precast wall is a proven system in which two factory-made concrete shells are coupled by connecting elements and supplemented on the construction site by an in-situ concrete core to form a solid cross-section. The system is characterised by good transportability, easy handling and a high degree of planning routine. This market penetration predestines the double wall as a carrier model for carbon concrete applications: Innovation can be based on an established design principle instead of having to introduce a completely new system.In reinforced concrete, the concrete cover also influences the minimum shell thickness. Carbon reinforcement allows this layer to be reduced without compromising durability. This results in a significantly increased slenderness potential of the facing shells, which has an impact on several levels:n Dr Matthias Tietze %u2013 Since 2025, Dr Matthias Tietze has been managing director of the Syspro-Gruppe Betonbauteile e. V. (Syspro Group Concrete Components Association), based in Leipzig. Prior to this, he obtained his doctorate in engineering in 2024 at the Technical University of Dresden at the Institute for Concrete Structures under Prof. Manfred Curbach. In 2014, he founded Kahnt & Tietze GmbH and was a member of the C%u00b3 Carbon Concrete Composite strategy team at the Technical University of Dresden in the same year. His scientific career began in 2010 as a member of the Energy Design research group under Prof. Frank H%u00fclsmeier, parallel to his master's degree in business administration with a focus on innovation management at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences. He gained professional experience from 2007 as a project engineer at Verkehrs Consult Leipzig GmbH. He completed his studies in 2002 with a degree in industrial engineering and construction at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences. tietze@syspro.orgn Otto Grauer, Dipl.-Ing. (FH), M.Sc. %u2013 Otto Grauer has been a research assistant in the %u201cSustainable Construction%u201d research group at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences since 2016. His work focuses on the development of sustainable concrete and hybrid building materials, the automation of resource-efficient production technologies, and test planning and project coordination. Previously, he worked in the Advanced Materials department at SKZ in Halle (Saale), focusing on materials development, textile-reinforced concrete, and energy-optimised building components. Since 2025, he has also been Head of Automation at the Syspro Group.n Dr-Ing. Alexander Kahnt %u2013 Dr-Ing. Alexander Kahnt has been a research assistant and head of the Sustainable Construction research group at the Institute for Concrete Construction at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences since 2013. Previously, from 2009 to 2013, he headed the Energy Design Research Group at the Architecture Institute of the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences. He completed his doctorate in 2020 at the Institute for Building Climatics at the Technical University of Dresden under Prof. John Grunewald. He also gained professional experience as a project engineer at the Hausladen engineering office in Munich and as a research assistant in the C3 strategy team at the TU Dresden.
