During this evaluation process, it was found that reinforcement machines from the German manufacturer mbk are among the most frequently chosen systems and that the machines impress their customers with high operational reliability and minimal downtime.As a result, the first new mbk machine was installed in Costa Rica in 2008 %u2013 Pretensados Nacionales was the first company in the country to introduce this technology. Since then, all reinforcement has been produced on mbk machines, with very satisfactory results.For more than a decade, these machines have demonstrated strong performance, low maintenance costs and high production efficiency, as Pretensados Nacionales points out. The technology helps to optimise processes, reduce manufacturing times, lower operating costs and expand production capacity in order to serve the national market more efficiently.Steady growth and integration of new mbk machinesAs part of its growth strategy and to expand production capacity, Pretensados Nacionales acquired and installed a second mbk machine, a BSM-360-O, in 2019 for the production of round, oval and elliptical reinforcement. This enabled a significant increase in production volumes and the fulfilment of new market requirements.In January 2026, the third mbk machine, a fully automatic BSM-250-R with high production capacity, was put into operation.
