PRECAST CONCRETE ELEMENTSwww.cpi-worldwide.com CPI %u2013 Concrete Plant International %u2013 2 | 2026On the access road to the city of Santa Fe, construction is progressing on the embankment on the north side of the roadway and the concrete abutment. Meanwhile, on the access road to Santo Tom%u00e9, earthmoving and embankment construction are underway in preparation for the other abutment. In Santa Fe, the existing pavement will be demolished and two new roadways will be built, each with 3.65-meter lanes and 2-meter shoulders. In Santo Tom%u00e9, a road redesign is planned, which includes a complete reorganization with the addition of dedicated bike lanes and pedestrian walkways. In addition, the new bridge will feature railings, metal barriers, and a special erosion protection system, reinforcing the safety of this infrastructure.According to the Ministry of Public Works of Santa Fe, the second batch of precast beams from San Luis will arrive at the end of the month. The Santa Fe-Santo Tom%u00e9 Bridge project requires 215 prestressed beams: 30 are manufactured in San Luis and the remaining 185 in San Agust%u00edn, located in the province of Santa Fe. Each beam measures 30.8 meters long, 1.5 meters high, and 0.70 meters wide, with an approximate weight of 80 tons. The beams are manufactured using 80-meter-long benches on which 42 high-strength steel cables are placed. These cables are tensioned using hydraulic jacks anchored in concrete blocks, ensuring uniform stress. The concreting and accelerated curing process involves pouring the concrete, prepared at a plant and under quality control, to ensure the strength and durability of the elements. Once the beam is poured, it undergoes a curing process to accelerate setting and allow for demoulding within 24 hours.Subsequently, the final setting and curing takes place. After the fourth day of concreting, an additional day is allowed for the beams to reach the necessary strength. Finally, on the sixth day, the tension in the cables is released, transferring the compressive load to the concrete. This gives the beams the capacity to withstand heavy loads, a fundamental requirement for this type of structure.BrazilThe construction of the largest road bridge in the state of S%u00e3o Paulo represents a significant milestone for local infrastructure. Located over the Tiet%u00ea River, this new structure is under construction on the Dr. Mario Gentil Highway (SP-333), which connects the city of Novo Horizonte with Ponga%u00ed.The project represents an investment of 60 million euros, and construction is 65% complete. According to the work schedule, the inauguration is planned for August 2026.The new 2.4-kilometer-long structure is being built alongside the existing bridge. Once completed, the bridge will have two lanes, while the existing bridge will be renovated and adapted for pedestrians.
