NEWS20 CPI %u2013 Concrete Plant International %u2013 2 | 2026 www.cpi-worldwide.comInitially, frequently recurring and visually distinguishable process steps %u2014 such as assembling and placing the concrete rings %u2014 were trained. As the data volume grows, additional work steps can be integrated and the models continuously improved. Gradually, further data sources such as equipment data, smart-meter information and drone recordings can also be incorporated. With every additional data point, the digital representation of construction processes becomes more precise. The better processes are digitally understood, the greater their impact.A key effect of this development is scalability. When processes, workflows and decision bases are captured and understood in a data-driven manner, they can not only be optimized but reproduced across projects, teams and locations. AI helps make experiential knowledge systematically available and independent of individuals %u2014 a crucial prerequisite for scaling industrialized construction, including precast production. The system is currently still being tested with two of approximately 30 assembly teams and is being continuously refined and optimized. The aim of this pilot phase is to sharpen the models under real construction conditions, gain operational experience and further increase user acceptance. The expected future benefits of this real-time transparency are diverse. Based on a continuously updated shared situational picture, construction sites can be managed more robustly and decisions made earlier and on a data basis. Deviations from the plan become visible not only in retrospect but already while they are emerging. In the future, this transparency will enable further optimization of site management, significantly reduce site visits by construction and project managers, and largely automate daily reporting. Resources can be deployed more efficiently, bottlenecks identified earlier and workflows coordinated more proactively. At the same time, predictability increases %u2014 a key lever for efficiency, schedule reliability and sustainability. Especially in complex and synchronized construction processes, this form of transparency creates the basis for a new level of collaboration between all project stakeholders. And the perspective does not end at the construction site %u2014 quite the opposite. For economical and scalable construction, industrialized building methods will become unavoidable. Their foundation lies in prefabricated large components assembled on site. As a result, the importance of the precast concrete industry will continue to grow %u2014 not only as a supplier but as an integral part of synchronized construction processes. It is crucial that the standardized process chain does not begin on the construction site. Smooth, takt-based assembly requires precast elements to be available in the right quality, at the right time and in the correct sequence. Logistics, planning and especially plant production thus become central levers for efficiency and schedule reliability. In precast production in particular, numerous entry points arise for AI-based optimization. Already in component design, AI can support the early selection of economical system dimensions and the targeted optimization and standardization of elements. In production itself, AI can be applied to quality control and optimization of concrete manufacturing and processing, as well as to the analysis, control and continuous improvement of production processes.Implementing AI in production is often easier than on construction sites. The higher degree of automation and intensive machine usage result in better availability and quality of digital data. Computer vision for real-time transparency is also particularly suitable under plant conditions: constant perspectives, consistent lighting, no weather influence and a homogeneous background improve robustness and analysis quality.Takt-based pre-assembly of concrete rings from the AI perspective %u2013 intelligent process monitoring for maximum precision.
