Other advantages of using a PLC are the higher safety and quality standards and the maintenance made a lot handier. A %u2018cleaning%u2019 button sets the mould in its outer position, which makes it easy to clean the mould. Several sensors check if the sideform and pressure beam are fully closed and a visual control on the screen shows at what angle the top and bottom landings are set. This makes it easy to verify plans and design data, without the need for extra measuring equipment. Both Flexcaster as well as Sidecaster have an electric control unit with remote, which operates 2 horizontal electric actuators in order to adjust the distance in between the individual steps. The same electric unit also controls 2 vertical electric actuators, which adjust the angle between the steps. Consequently, both goings and risers are all together simultaneously electrically adjusted.
