PRECAST CONCRETE ELEMENTS72 CPI %u2013 Concrete Plant International | India Edition %u2013 1 | 2026 www.cpi-worldwide.comCombicaster, for winding stairs and special shapesThe Construx-Weckenmann Combicaster is suitable for producing winding stairs in a top-down concept. The mould consists of several panels, which can be used in either direction. On one side, they feature a straight timber profile on which strips of 18mm plywood can be nailed. On the other side they feature a 75%u00b0 steel cut-back which requires the use of magnetic triangular chamfers. These magnetic chamfers can overlap a maximum opening of 40mm, thus avoiding the need for timber fronts. There are 2 options in the riser variation: from 150mm to 190mm or from 160mm to 200mm. The lower version is a typical Southern European standard, the higher version is more in demand in Northern and Eastern Europe.Assembling the stair mould is easy, the panels can be stacked onto each other, bolted together and propped. Each panel has a thick metal plate integrated underneath the top steel face, right in the centre of gravity. Thus, allowing to lift the panel by means of a magnetic lifting device. The panels can also be lifted with brackets in a more conventional manner. The side-forms need to be cut out to measure, preferably with a CNC-router, and can be held in place by means of Construx-Weckenmann magnets.A standard Construx-Weckenmann Combicaster set consists of following equipment:%u2022 1 base panel 1800mm wide x 1500mm deep%u2022 14 panels 1800mm wide x 1000mm deep%u2022 6 panels 2200mm wide x 1000mm deep%u2022 14 magnetic chamfers 1300mm long%u2022 6 magnetic chamfers 1800mm long%u2022 Side-form magnets, propping and anchoring accessoriesAll panels can be used either in a straight line, in a right turn (clockwise), in a left turn (counterclockwise), or in a combination of all three. This flexibility, together with the fact that the panels can be used both for straight steps and for cut-back steps, ensures that the Construx-Weckenmann Combicaster is a profitable and highly versatile stair mould. As the panels are so wide, there is sufficient room to work next to the stairs on the panels, and this means that all actions can be completed safely and rapidly. The Construx-Weckenmann Combicaster is not only a tool for manufacturing normal winding stairs, as there are stairs composed of 2 straight flights connected at a 90%u00b0 angle or stairs that return onto themselves with 180%u00b0 landings at each end of the straight flights. Any stairs with up to 5 turns can be made. This stair mould can also be used to cast spiral stairs or even helical, elliptical or oval stairs. Almost any feature is possible. Besides being able to form the most unusual shapes, the Construx-Weckenmann Combicaster is also suitable to form straight stairs with one or more intermediate landings, all this in one single pour. Its versatility makes the Combicaster a very good mould for producing winding stairs according to any standard, as proven by the many references throughout the world.Stair flight made in a Construx-Weckenmann SidecasterConstrux-Weckenmann Combicaster, ready for casting
